Not to mention it's use in farming as a great rotation crop- it's roots go deep and pull nutrients up, so the field that was depleted from crop growth can be used again after the hemp harvest, and it will have enough nutrients left over in the shallower parts, for crops whose roots can only grow so far to find food. What Can Green Do For You?

protests succeed. eventually.
Read the whole blog & the articles (s)he refers to here.
In 1966, the specialists at the Pentagon went to US President Lyndon Johnson – a thug prone to threatening to “crush” entire elected governments – with a plan to end the Vietnam War: nuke the country. They “proved”, using their computer modeling, that a nuclear attack would “save lives.” It was a plan that might well have appealed to him. But Johnson pointed out the window, towards the hoardes of protesters, and said: “I have one more problem for your computer. Will you feed into it how long it will take 500,000 angry Americans to climb the White House wall out there and lynch their President?” He knew that there would be a cost – in protest and democratic revolt – that made that cruelty too great. ... Those protesters went home from those protests believing they had failed – but they had succeeded in preventing a nuclear war. They thought they were impotent, just as so many of us do – but they really had power beyond their dreams to stop a nightmare."
So thank you to all who were able to attend the Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear; we do need to chill out, be more moderate and give in to reasonable compromise to keep our country safe and at peace.
*Note- if you've seen the 1999 movie Dick (a more comical look at Nixon & the Watergate scandal than the excellent drama of 1976's All the President's Men), you would know that peace talks were made between Nixon and General Secertary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhev. What made these sit downs successful? The chilled out, we're all on this Earth together feeling provided by some "special" baked goods made for relaxed compromise and a friendly outlook and attitude. Can't we all get along? Another thing Green can do for you.

Scrooge & Stephen Colbert would be friends.
"it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and Destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
"Are there no prisons?" asked Scrooge.
"Plenty of prisons," said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.
"And the Union workhouses?" demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"
"They are. Still," returned the gentleman, "I wish I could say they were not."
"The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?" said Scrooge.
"Both very busy, sir."
"Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course," said Scrooge. "I'm very glad to hear it."
"Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude," returned the gentleman, "a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?"
"Nothing!" Scrooge replied.
"You wish to be anonymous?"
"I wish to be left alone," said Scrooge. "Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned -- they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population. Besides -- excuse me -- I don't know that."
Hmm, just what don't you know?
You have the Republican solution to "Obamacare," tah-dah!
